Društvo starosedelaca i ljubitelja „Savamala” osnovano je u junu 2012. godine sa ciljem da kroz organizaciju sportskih, kuluturno-umetničkih i ekoloških manifestacaija poboljša društveni život ovdašnjih stanovnika i ukaže na potrebu da se kraj oživi i unapredi kroz aktivnosti lokalne zajednice. Inicijativa je potekla od momaka koji su se okupljali u sendvičari „Savamala” koja nalazila u Svetozara Radića 3a. Danas Društvo ima oko 800 članova i prostorije se nalaze u Zagrebačkoj 8. Jedna od prvih akcija bila je „Dan otvorene kuhinje Savamale” na kojoj su komšije i svi zainteresovan mogli da upoznaju sa ciljevima i aktivnostima društva.

An association of Savamala’s longstanding residents and those who count themselves as friends of the neighbourhood was founded in June 2012 with the aim of organising artistic, environmental, cultural and sporting events to improve the sense of community and highlight the need to enliven the area in cooperation with the local community. The initiative was started by a group of young men who hung around in the “Savamala” sandwich shop, which used to be at number 3a Svetozara Radića Street. Today the association has 800 members and has its headquarters at number 8 Zagrebačka. One of its first events was the Savamala Open Kitchen Day, at which neighbours and all other interested parties were invited to come along and familiarise themselves with the aims and activities of the association.
